Specific countries mode for issuing incentives
If you know the country of each incentive recipient before you pay them, use specific countries mode to lock the amounts and countries for each incentive recipient. Head to incentives plan or study plan › incentives, or change the mode on payment methods.
Perfect localization with specific countries mode let's you do three unique things:
- Send the initial email in the right language for every recipient in a single order
- Set rounded local currency amounts in one order for multiple countries
- Upload and pay up to 20,000 recipients at a time
How do you use specific countries?
Head to your study plan or incentives plan and then turn the mode to Specific Countries. If you don't see the option, drop us a line and we'll make sure you have access:
- Set the incentives mode to specific countries in your study plan or incentives plan (compensation-only studies)
- Click add or upload recipients
- Then make sure each recipient has at least an email, country, and amount (see below)
Translations for specific countries
The best part about specific countries mode is that if you setup translations, the initial email will be translated according to the country you specify above. Head to study › translations to add all the languages you want to support.

What's required to use specific countries
This means you'll need to have the following for each recipient:
- Country
- Amount (in local currency)
Optionally you can also specify:
- Language
- Currency
SC is the short version
The shortcut for Specific Countries incentives mode around Ethnio is "SC" with the multiple flags icon. If you see this in your incentives activity or elsewhere, it's showing a recipient or incentives set to specific countries:
Pay flow for specific countries
One unique aspect of payment methods when you are issuing an incentives order using specific countries: we only show the payment methods according to the countries of the recipients you've added to that order.
This means the payment methods inside the pay flow might be less than you see in your study › incentives › payment methods.
