All about the new study editor π
The new study editor is a complete redesign of how you build screeners or surveys in Ethnio, with new question types, built-in logic, and a cleaner layout.
Accessing the new editor
Head to studies > create study and check the box that says "Use the new editor..." and then select any existing study or template. You can also create from scratch with this option selected.

Once you've created a study, click Editor on the left sidebar to start using it.
Also heads up your new study will automatically have the label Beta editor to make it easy to distinguish from your other studies:

Editor layout πΊοΈ
The editor has two panels:
The canvas (right side) shows your screener questions in order β Q1, Q2, Q3, etc. At the bottom youβll always see three ending cards: Regular Ending, Qualified Ending, and Disqualified Ending. These control what participants see when they finish.
The settings panel (left side) updates based on whichever question is selected. It has two sections: Options (question behavior) and Logic (conditional, display, qualifying, and pool triggers).
Use the Content / Logic flow tabs at the top to toggle between editing questions and viewing your full logic map.

Click + Add content to open the question picker. Search by name or browse by category. New question types are marked β¨. Head to https://help.ethn.io/article/92-ethnio-question-types for the complete list
Configuring a question
Click any question in the canvas to select it. Edit the question title by clicking it directly. For close-ended types, click any answer to edit it, use + Answer to add options, and Copy Answers / Paste Answers to duplicate answer sets between questions.
Options
- Required β participant must answer before moving on
- Randomize answers β shuffles answer order on each load
- Other field text input β adds a free-text βOtherβ option
- Add page break β puts this question on its own page
Logic
Each question has four logic controls in the settings panel. The current status ("Active" or "Not set") is visible at a glance. Please find a detailed description of logic in the new editor here. The quick versionL
- Qualifying logic β toggle on to mark this question as a qualifier. Answers can route participants to a Qualified or Disqualified ending.
- Skip logic β routes participants to a different question based on their answer, skipping questions in between. Click to add rules per answer option.
- Display logic β shows or hides this question based on a previous answer. If the condition isn't met, the question is skipped automatically.
- Pool automation triggers β connects a participant's answer to an automated action in your Pool.
