Translating incentives in compensation-only studies with AI π€
If you issue incentives in Ethnio but don't run a survey or recruiting in Ethnio, we've got you covered. You should be using the compensation-only study type, and can turn on localization in the study plan. That way, Ethnio can translate all incentive emails and redeem pages into almost any language using AI as well as give you a centralized editor to edit all fields or share with human translators to check the AI.
Automatic country detection using GeoIP + language preferences globally π
If you turn on localization for incentives, Ethnio can detect the language of any recipient automatically when they click on a redeem page. We use their browser or device language preference first, and then fallback to their GeoIP location setting. You can also see how we map languages to countries in your study plan > localization.

Some popular localization scenarios for incentives
There are two basic scenarios with slightly different use cases for how you might want to handle languages and currencies in compensation-only studies:
| I'd like to pay participants in... | Pros | Cons |
| a single country and currency, using one study per language in Ethnio |
β Fixed local currency like 50EUR β Initial email can be in local language β Use localization to add a single language + AI |
π Takes longer to split participants up by country in multiple incentive batches/orders |
| multiple countries and currencies at one time, in a single study in Ethnio with multiple languages |
β Time savings of issuing one incentive order with participants globally β Multiple languages automatically translated with AI + central editor and central editor for human translators |
π Currency amounts will be not as rounded as USD base amount. E.g., 43EUR instead of 50EUR for a $50USD base amount |
You can setup multiple studies in Ethnio with single languages, which
