Historical status numbers, toggles, and filters in Responses 🔢

For almost all study types, your participants and respondents go through different stages. The same participant might start off as qualified, then change to completed, and eventually be paid. We show you the totals for each stage and let you toggle to see which participants or respondents were in each historical set of numbers.

Which numbers will I see?

For a standard study type of 1:1 interviews, the historical numbers will only be qualified, completed, paid, and no shows. If you turn on 3rd Party URL, you'll then see clicked, and if you use the track external payments feature in incentives, you'll see Paid Ext, which is Paid Externally:

  • Clicked - only if you turn on 3rd Party URL
  • Qualified -  based on qualifying questions if you had a screener or survey
  • Completed - for 1:1 interviews or group sessions
  • Paid - incentives in Ethnio
  • Paid Externally - only if you use the external payment feature of incentives
  • No shows - for 1:1 interviews or group sessions

Filtering on historical statuses

The same exact functionality as clicking those toggles at the top of responses exists as a filter. They can be included or excluded, but again keep in mind historical statuses can have the same participant in multiple statuses if they logically move through the steps of your study (completed, then paid, etc).

Wait, how does current status differ from historical status?

You'll always see the current status of a participant on Responses. But if a participant has been paid, you might want to know that they also had been qualified, and then completed their interview. Historical status totals simply show you that history by adding the numbers. If you click participant history for any individual, you can see how they've changed over time.
