How Pool Engagement Works

You've got to send a lot of Pool emails!

Ethnio need to be receiving quite a lot of email data to give you engagement statistics. We only count recent emails within the last 12 months. If you have people open or click the Pool emails you send within the past month, you'll have higher engagement than if you had people open/click 6 months ago. And if your Pool emails are over a year old, we consider that engagement irrelevant because hello that's like 6 years in internet time.

As a rule of thumb at least 10% of your Pool members will need to have received an email in order to see engagement.

Tip: try to send emails on a recurring basis. This could mean scheduling time to send distributions with your team every week/month. As a result, your engagement will stay constant and not drop off. If you engagement starts to decline, you can always check all your segment engagement to see if there is a low segment that needs attention.

Overall Engagement

This is calculated by the number of emails sent against how many were opened, clicked, or bounced. The more emails are sent which are opened and clicked, the higher your overall engagement. So if you email 500 people and all 500 opened the email and click a link within the last 30 days, you would have 100% overall engagement for that month. More on improving engagement here.

Segment Engagement

Segment engagement is calculated in the same way as overall engagement, but is fixed to the segment you created. This displays an isolated view of how a particular segment of data is performing in your Pool, and allows you to find which data is current and impacting your research versus which data is getting stale and effecting your results inaccurately.

How do I send enough emails per segment to see engagement data? Make sure to email the same segment on a recurring basis and avoid sending one-off distributions. Keep your research active!

Why do I have to send so many emails?

Think of it like a credit card score, people have to use the card regularly in order for the bank to understand how effective someone is at managing their credit. As for banks, it's important for researchers to understand how effective their research team is with getting potential participants engaged in research.
