Creating a study in Ethnio ➕
To create a new study, head to to Studies and click “Create Study” You can start fresh with a blank study, clone from an existing study, or pick a saved template. Templates help standardize processes across your research team.
1️⃣ Choose the type of study

So this is the list of all the study types:
- 💬 1:1 Interviews – Schedule interviews with participants, typically moderated, and can be remote or in-person
- 👥 Focus Group – Up to 10 participants per group interview, with up to 4 concurrent sessions
- 🏢 Event – Get insights from events (e.g., workshops, panel discussions for all hands, empathy challenges, etc.)
- 💲 Compensation Only – Pay via Ethnio or track external payments
- 📋 Legacy Screener – Converted from an existing screener
- 📊 Survey – Using an external survey tool like Qualtrics or using Ethnio
- 📓 Diary Study – Using an external tool like dScout, but optionally including interviews scheduled in Ethnio
- 🖱️ Unmoderated Exercise – Card sorting, automated research tools, all done outside Ethnio
- 🧪 Beta Feature Testing – Using an external platform or tool, but optionally including interviews scheduled in Ethnio
- 📑 Other
2️⃣ Study plan
Start setting up the key elements of your study depending on your workflow. Big items here:
- 🔎 Screener: Will it be in Ethnio or another tool. Is it needed?
- 📝 Consent: Integrate Ethnio, DocuSign, or Adobe Sign for legal agreements.
- 💳 Incentives: Manage participant payouts directly or externally.
- 📅 Scheduling: Automate invites, reminders, and calendar integrations.
- 🌐 Localization: Support for multilingual studies beyond English.
3️⃣ Verify your brand for the design of your study
Head to study > design to verify the correct brand is selected. This will update your study link, intercept, scheduling pages, etc with the right styles.
4️⃣ Funnel & workflow management 📈
- Switch to the Kanban view for visual drag-and-drop management of study statuses (Draft → Open → Closed).
- Visually track and optimize participant flow at each stage.
5️⃣ Publish
- Choose your publishing method:
- 🌐 Intercept: Either Web or App - use a global JS snippet with targeted URLs.
- 🔗 Study Link: Distribute a branded subdomain link
7️⃣ Invite
For Enterprise customers, Study Invite can be part of your study and do the following:
- Efficiently send batch invites directly within your study.
- Personalize invitations with dynamic tokens (e.g., study name, incentive details).
