Duplicate prevention settings

If you want to make sure that past respondents or participants in a given screener aren't able to book another session, Ethnio has a default setting to prevent duplicates using email address. If you want to allow duplicates, head to scheduling >> settings >> Email Rules for Participants and change allow previous respondents... to Yes. You'll now allow duplicates from that point forward, but any past duplicates will still be blocked, although you can just change their status to new in order to invite a duplicate.


What's the difference between Pool duplicates and these duplicates?

Scheduling duplicates only are marked as duplicate by one criteria: email

  1. Attributes - scheduling duplicates only use email
  2. Timing - scheduling duplicates are instant - as soon as a participant fills out your screener a 2nd time with the same email, they are marked as a duplicate right away

The new Pool duplicates works with a score and threshold and is much more complex, so these are the big differences:

  1. Attributes - the scan in Pool uses many attributes like phone, DOB, IP, etc
  2. Timing - Runs 1x week or 1x month and is not instant
