Adding to the questions library from inside a study
In the study editor, most questions have an Add to Questions Library option in their menu. This lets you quickly add a question to be re-used across multiple studies and anyone on your team, as well as convert that question into a central questions library question.
đź’ˇPro tip: convert as many questions as you can from one-off questions inside a study to the questions library, as it centralizes and streamlines filters, automations, and quotas.
Groups cannot be added to questions library
Groups work differently. A group can’t be saved to the Library from inside a study, and choosing that option on a group explains why.
Groups vs. Blocks
A group in a study is a set of questions that sit together and often share logic and piping. That logic usually points to other questions in the same study, like showing a follow-up only when someone answers “Yes” earlier on. In the Questions Library, the reusable version of a group is called a Block. A Block holds multiple questions along with its own logic, and it’s built to work in any study it’s added to. Because a group’s logic is tied to the study it lives in, copying it straight into the Library would break or quietly change how it behaves elsewhere.
Who can create Blocks
Admins and the account owner create Blocks in the Questions Library. This keeps shared, reusable content consistent for your whole team, so a change to a Block is made once and applies everywhere it’s used.
If you’re a team member
- Ask an admin or the account owner to create a Block based on your group. Sharing a link to the study helps them see the questions and logic you want.
- Once the Block exists, add it to any study from Add content › Questions Library.
You can still add individual questions from a group to the Library using each question’s menu.
If you’re an admin or the account owner
- Go to Questions Library › New Block.
- Add the questions and set up any logic and piping inside the Block.
- Save it. Your team can now add it to any study from Add content › Questions Library.
