View only studies and templates
Some collaborators and team members have view-only access in Ethnio. This article explains how to spot view-only studies and templates, what you can do with them, and how to get edit access if you need it.
The eye icon means view-only access 👁️
An eye icon means your account owner or admin gave you view-only permissions.
You can open the study or template and view it, but editing is turned off. A reminder also appears: "Looks like you only have view access to this study. Please ask your account owner or admin to change if you would like edit access."
What you can do in view-only mode 📋
You can view the study, just without the ability to make changes.
Inside a view-only study you'll still see Study overview, Study plan, Responses, and Scheduling in the left menu. The Study plan section shows a short note letting you know you're in view-only mode, and you can find the study plan itself in Study overview.
How view and edit access gets assigned 🔑
Owners and admins set View and Edit per study and per template.
For studies, a team member's permissions list every study with its own View and Edit checkboxes. Keep in mind that folder permissions might overwrite study permissions. For templates, only the account owner and admins can edit by default, but permissions can be set per template, and there's an option to allow creating new templates from scratch or by duplicating an existing one.
Need edit access? 🙋
Reach out to your account owner or admin.
View-only permissions can only be changed by an account owner or admin. Contact whoever manages your Ethnio account and ask them to switch you from View to Edit on the specific study or template you need.
