The Study Editor & Questions Library ✍️
The study editor is a complete redesign of how you build screeners in Ethnio, with new question types, built-in logic, and a cleaner layout. The Questions Library lets you save a question once and reuse it across studies. This article covers both a both features are currently in Beta.
Opening the editor 🚪
Find it in the left sidebar of any study.
Open any study and click Editor in the left sidebar. You’ll see a Beta badge while the editor is in early access.
Editor layout 🗺️
Canvas on the right, settings on the left.
- Canvas (right side) — shows your screener questions in order (Q1, Q2, Q3…). At the bottom you’ll always see three ending cards: Regular Ending, Qualified Ending, and Disqualified Ending. These control what participants see when they finish.
- Settings panel (left side) — updates based on whichever question is selected. It has two sections: Options (question behavior) and Logic.
Use the Content / Logic flow tabs at the top right to switch between editing questions and viewing your full logic map.

Logic 🔀
Show, hide, skip, qualify, and automate based on how someone answers.
- Qualifying logic — marks the question as a qualifier; answers can route participants to a Qualified or Disqualified ending.
- Skip logic (conditional) — routes participants to a different question based on their answer, skipping questions in between. Add a rule per answer option.
- Display logic — shows or hides a question based on a previous answer; if the condition isn’t met, the question is skipped automatically.
- Pool automation triggers — connects a participant’s answer to an automated action in your Pool.
- Personalization — pipes a participant’s earlier answer into a later question, so screeners feel more conversational.
Click the Logic flow tab at the top right to see a visual map of your entire screener, with each question and ending shown as a node.
