Incentives > Settings ⚙️

For the Ethnio account owner or admins, this page can help control the way incentives are used for your whole team. The most common two things to use this page for are restricting payment methods or countries. That means if a payment method like PayPal is restricted here, nobody will be able to use that method.

Limits

Set an annual limit on the total incentive amount a participant can receive per calendar year. This helps manage compliance and budget controls across all studies.

Payment method restrictions

Hide specific payment methods from your entire team to prevent issuing incentives using those methods. For example, you might disable PayPal or bank transfers if they’re not approved for your organization.

Using the "only allow" mode in payment restrictions

If your company or team has certain approved payment methods, and you don't want anyone to be able to add anything else, including future new payment methods added, this mode is for you. All you need to do is add the methods that are approved, and no current or future methods will be allowed.

If you only allow one payment method in your entire account, keep in mind any study with a country that does not have that payment method will not be able to issue incentives

Country restrictions

Restrict certain payment methods by country, ensuring your team only issues incentives that are available and compliant in each participant’s region.

Cost of living

Adjust incentive amounts automatically based on participants’ countries. The selected attribute or column must include either two-letter country codes (e.g., “US”, “DE”) or country names in English.

This allows you to pay participants different amounts according to their local cost of living, using existing attributes, mappings, and data validation rules. But the tricky part is country needs to be locked so that participants can't change their country to change the amount they are receiving in a global order.
